The 1961 story
The 1961 is a fashion boutique dedicated to bringing sustainable fashion to the next level, bringing together high fashion and the spirit of Rock n' Roll.
The year was 2013 and we were starting out slowly experimenting with customised vintage clothes while selling online and running our own little vintage shop, collecting cool items from travels throughout Europe and most notably Asia.
After finding the coolest of vintage leather shops, we began to concentrate on selling leather items, mostly biker jackets that we would custom. We then began looking into ways to make our own jackets, new leather bikers using the template of some cool skinny vintage bikers that we found on our travels.....and the 1961 was born!
The biker jacket was our first style and we have been refining and expanding the project ever since.
All our jackets are made using 100% recycled leather , using only quality leather from ugly old items and making them into our stunning cool designs, so we are helping save the environment at the same time!
The leather jacket is just as much a classic as the basic white T-shirt or a pair of blue jeans. The biker style has been worn both on and off motorcycles for almost a century and people like Marlon Brando, Marylyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, David Bowie, The Ramones, Lou Reed, Kurt Cobain and many others – all inspiring rebels in their own time and way – have contributed to the jacket’s iconic status and timeless appeal.
We believe we made the ultimate biker jacket with the perfect mix between a classic look and a modern fit that is a real one in a million.
We are ever expanding and also have a great selection of studded bikers, sleeveless bikers and new colorways, as well as guest designers and collaborations.
We have new colourways on the way and will also be launching our children's collection in the summer!!
